Reeder Custom Guns - Honest opinion? For the first time in almost 30

years I am without a 357 magnum. I just sold a couple guns and want a model 27, a definite keeper. Range (and maybe bowling pin) gun, so I'm jonesin for the 8 3/8 barrel. Thoughts on price and model? Am leaning toward a -2 or pre model, but there are some nice 3's and 5's out there. I think the counter bored versions are more desireable, but I realize the noncounterbored versions have their own merits. . .Looks like I'm gonna spend between $900 and $1100 for a really nice one? Plus there's a guy in town with a NICE 25-2 for $925, but my 625's treating me pretty good and I am without a 357. . .

numbered to it so it looks more like the 1935 originals, even though I know I may need to put Targets of some type on it to shoot better. Is that silly???

-7 and so on are improvements over the original design. I would stay away from the counter bored guns if you are thinking of getting into any competition. A tiny little bit of unburned powder or dirt and grit getting down in that counter bore will lock up a cylinder. For hunting use or serious use stay with the non counter bored guns.

The newer guns are a tad cheaper as well. It will get at least a couple thousand rounds a year through it, so the lack of counterbore and better metallurgy, etc on a newer one would probably be appreciated down the road. My oldest and finest fitted gun is a 32-20 hand ejector-and a bit of unburned powder can easily keep the crane from closing. My loosest guns are a 1968 1911 and a newer 625 and they just run and run no matter how dirty. Thanks again.
