Just back from a Texas hill country doe and spike late season hunt on a friend's ranch. My son and his wife went with me. It was a great hunt we killed a couple of deer each and coyote hunted as well. Hogs mostly did not cooperate with us. Got one doe with 45 backpacker at about 40
yards.![[image]](images/uploaded/201901122151145c3a61522bce7.jpg)

Several of the fine old Gents I hunted with are not around anymore. All the faces and names have changed. "...half-mile west of Charlie Mill..."
like WB said those pics bring back memories of the

Celebrity Handgun Hunt at the Y.O. Ranch just outside Junction Texas. It was put on by the Handgun chapter of Safari Club. I hunted there for 15 years and met some fine folks. The last few years I helped the head honcho Taz Ridley out by doing the invitations. He needed some "new blood" in there and he got it. It was an invitation only hunt all for charity. I met John Taffin there for the first time.
The last few years when I was doing the invitations a lot of the Misfits got invitations and many of them made the hunt. It was in December and a cold wind would eat you up riding in an open top jeep or Bronco. Kase and I donated a gun each for the auction plus a lot of other folks donated items too. Bob Baker of Freedom Arms donated a new Freedom Arms and showed off his new Model 2008 single shot pistol there.
The ranch decided what animals were included in our fee and that was normally a Sika buck and 2 does, or an Axis buck and 2 does, although on occasion they had a Whitetail buck and 4 does as our game for the weekend. But you could shoot whatever you wanted as the ranch was full of every kind of exotic game plus some African game, but they were at an extra cost. All the meat went for the needy for Christmas.
You will see some of the Misfits in these pics..

I see the one with Puffy at a table talking to Larry Farley and Sean. Beyond Larry is Doug Faith and Bill Strawberry. Over Puffy's shoulder is Ernie French back in his TC Custom Shop days. Left of Ernie is the SCI President. I hunted with him, his name escapes me at the moment. He passed on a couple year's back, bought a RPM-XL from him.
That's the truth, at my inlaws Christmas gathering

we were running VHS tapes of the same gathering 20 years prior. So interesting to see how the kids interacted and have grown and who was no longer there.
