I ended up with what my family called his "throw gun"?! LOL That's what they called it, openly too. It is a M&P pre-M10. Ugly chrome finish I later found out, not nickel and the barrel is a later 2" version that does not match the gun. But it is screwed in well and shoots great after I re-regulated it myself.

The grip is horrible and I simply had to have a grip adapter. Gary gave me a trigger shoe (no one likes them on handguns anyway) so I had to find a home for it. This works. The old heirloom goes well with his old badge that came with it and it's a fair shooter if not for the faint of heart purist.

One tell of the chrome was the hammer and trigger were also plated, not case finish as on original nickel guns. I even have a few of the military FMJ .38 Special rounds he must have used in it.
