10mm is almost 20% more than the 40S&W in standard loadings. For instance..
in the 135 grain bullet..
10mm...1400
40 S&W..1200

in the 150 grain bullet
10....1300
40 S&W...1100
And some of the 10mm loads by companies like Corbon and Double Tap are considerably more, as much as 250 fps more. So not even in your wettest dreams will the 40 S&W equal the 10mm. And it is not intended to. It was developed because the 10mm was too hot for law enforcement. The 40 S&W was right in the moderate level that they could handle.
