of bluing, the gun is immersed in an acid bath.The bluing process is simply an acid process. To kill this acid process we soak it in oil for about 24 hours. Then after getting it out of the oil bath we wipe it down, do whatever gold or silver inlay the customer wants, and put it together and do the final test firing. After that in case there is a bit of acid still on it I wipe it down with an oily rag. Sometimes if we don't kill the acid process a white fuzzy layer will grow on it usually in corners or between the barrel and frame. It doesn't hurt anything and wipes right off, but we do that final light coating of oil just to be sure.
