250 Savage - My love for Ruger #1s is well documented...

a guy sent it off to a truly skilled fellow in Washington state and had it re-bored/rechambered to .257 Weatherby. Then I traded for it. It still had the 22" barrel and was LOUD! So accurate, and recoil was less than a normal .30-06. Never chronographed it but let it slip away for a fine profit.

At a gun show in Little Rock, sometime in the mid 1980's, a couple dealers got hold of it and asked if they could take it to their table to use their bore microscope to inspect it. I said sure, knowing my high mark up made it pretty a safe bet and I'd like the inspection report too. Wouldn't you know it about an hour later the big fellow in a black hat walked up to may table and without saying a word plopped down a stack of $100 bills, my exact asking price! I was gobsmacked. For years afterward they had good fun teasing me how I sold it too cheap. LOL. I made a profit and a couple good friends, it was surely worth it.

I was 14 at the time, saved up for it, attached a Weaver T16, Harris bi-pod and a sling. The woodchucks didn't stand a chance against it. I still have the rifle and everything on it is still the same. I've always had a soft spot for the No. 1, I guess I'm overdue to add another one.
