Reeder Custom Guns - I stay in trouble so much, once more won't matter..

But, the rainy weather kept me in this morning. I decided it was time to utilize one of my Reeder Christmas Sale items. I'd bought two grip frame assemblies. One Stainless and One Aluminum. Decided Aluminum on this project.

Broke out a primo Ruger Midframe Flattop 45 Convertible and went to work. Poor Man's Acton Job, New Springs, Polished/Brushed finish, and a few more modifications before reassembling with the gripframe.

Very happy with the finished product which now weighs 36.4 ounces...

Maybe an ounce or two there. An alloy rod could be made if your splitting hairs but I bet it would be only grams different. I like the modded alloy gripframes to change balance and lighten up things some.

I don't have the parts laying about but would love a thorough comparative study as to the differences in grip frames and ejector housings etc. Just interesting reference. An ounce or two from one end to the other can really change the overall feel of a piece.

I have my ElDiablo .44 Spec. and .38-40 OM both customized with the lighter alloy Gunfightered grip frames.

Have a few aluminum ERH that may get Cerakoted "Aluminum" for this and another project.

then clear coated with Brownells matte shake and bake. Does OK.

Not yet, but may get a couple made...

I've blasted a couple with #320 glass beads
