On a lark, I grabbed a Star BM and had Gary et all do a refinish and action job. The black chromex is superb! Wish I’d taken before pictures but it’s a whole new gun.

(I got it from Blake) shot POA with 147 gr. JHP. I let a friend talk me out of it, regrets. Customized with better, modernized, sights it would really be the equal of about anything. Plus it fits in your back pocket!

Don't get cheap on extra mags, quality is worth it.

Good to know

The cheap all steel ones are not heavy and much overbuilt, will last forever. The locked breach is very 1911ish, basically a steel 9mm version of the PD (or vice versa). It also sports one of the easiest slides to pull back for weak handed shooters, and is not limp wrist sensitive in recoil.

Some engineering research would be in order to determine if a dovetail front sight could be manipulated (Gary does a great job on Hi-Powers) and the rear opened up to fit a Novack or STI type sight. Lots of money there, it works great as is for a little walking or truck gun. A real sleeper bargain.

Is the front sight dovetailed in or

Is is cast on the slide? I'd get one if better sights could be installed.

It is staked in, I think.

I’m going to play around with some paint. Possibly put dimple (dot) in the front sight.
