Gonna shoot my little sporty .40 this weekend

even if it hair-lips the devil himself. Horrible weather last couple weekends. Now it's just cold. The Reeder Trail Gun Single-six conversion to .400 caliber. Everyone who examines it really goes on.

Having chosen .40 S&W over 10mm as the chambering I am beginning to really look into the potential. I have some 180 gr. JHP and find that using AA#7 (a really good 10mm powder) if I seat to normal .40 specs I use around 8.5 gr. for 1000 fps. Using the trick to "seat out long" to 10mm specs (effectively making a 10mm Auto loading) it takes an additional 10% more powder to equal the 1000 fps. There is that 10% performance advantage on the top end. It's a bit difficult to seat the 10mm deep to gain economy in loading lighter loads, I guess you could do it, but the converse is easy. I'm still happy with my choice.

*Gary did remember to include the green fiber front sight. It really helps my eyes!
