I loaded the .338 GNR to the gills and got a 200 gr. to 2600 in a 14"+2 barrel. The 8mm is dandy too, up to around 200 gr. bullets. There may be some a little heavier, 225? I think Hornady used to make them. The 8mm rifle bullets seem to perform perfectly in the handgun application. My .338 GNR was a little hard pressed to expand slugs designed to withstand the rigors of the .338-378 Wby. and Lapua! More conventional, old school, rifle bullets did best for me.
