that were over 200 yrs. old and would function just as well today as they ever did, likely even better with modern lubes. Lately I have been reviving an old motorcycle, about 40 yrs. old. Several poly parts and nylon thingys. With time literally all of it changes molecularity, cracks and gets brittle. It gets brittle in some manner, depending on storage, UV light, and chemicals that it came in contact with. The 60 yr. old Stevens shotguns fared better than the old Daisy BB guns made from some type of plastic as have the "Nylon" 66 line. Back then it was done to make the gun less expensive, cheaper! Ditto the Winchester shotguns (M59) with 100 miles of glass wrapped around it. That didn't catch on either. I guess the aluminum (it too was seen as cheap) and plastic M-16 did survive. I guess relabeling it lightweight "alloy" perhaps helped.

I'm not sure if a Glock or XD will last 100-150 yrs. But to bet on it, it will be of no matter to me.
