so it makes for a very compact package in relation to the actual barrel length. I think one of the things that hurt it were guys shooting .44 mag and .308 with no, or ineffective, brakes. It was offered in 7mm BR which would have been a delight and I'd love a 7mm GNR in one. The extractor was basically a "shell holder" like on a reloading press but not exchangeable other than an assembly (I think).
The idea is you slip off your slide from your pet 1911 and drop this on to make it a long range hunting handgun. Of course you'd instantly want a dedicated frame.
If anybody sees one for sale I'd like to know about it as I truly do want to experience it from the early 1980's. Springfield offered a break barrel design very shortly called a S.A.S.S. in the mid 1980's but I have no experience with it at all. It dropped very quickly.
