How about a hypothetical?

One of my life dreams is to own a hunting preserve...strange huh! One with 4-5 section that are 5k-7k acres each. These broken into a potluck section with feral hogs, hybrid sheep, spanish goats and the like, a euro section (Wisonet, fallow, Reds, mouflon, ibex, boar, etc), an Asian section (Asiatic WB, Pere David Deer, Elds deer, sika, markhor, urial, etc) and an American section (whitetails, elk, bison, mt goats, dall sheep, aoudad cause I don't really know where to put them, etc). Good thing I don't waste much time thinking about this much...

Here's my hypothetical question...in this situation, what would be your daily preserve carry, gun, caliber and why?

Can you tell I'm bored........

30GNR G2 carbine & 1911-10mm or 510GNR SA sidearm

I'm usually shocked how Guides carry really plain guns.

What would you really need the gun for? Predators? Poachers? A good Semi-auto .308 carbine would do well. Little hefty, but for driving around and short walks fine. A good .30-06 bolt gun would do too. Knock about AR carbine is good if a bit light caliber. A black gun is sort of what I'm leaning toward to get knocked around, a tool. A good .44 special loaded hot would be light, go about unnoticed, and worked in the past. I see no reason it would not now.

A semi-auto tactical type with scope (.308 or 5.56);
A medium power bolt rifle with scope (.308 or .30-06);
Good .44 revolver is fine. Glock 21 or 20 otherwise for semi-auto. Key is to have something close when it's needed.

A good AR-10.

in Florida that had many of the animals you describe. The guide carried a SW 44 magnum on his side at all times for the lack of a better term. I believe he used Norma factory ammo for his daily use.

As far as a rifle I can't seem to recall anything than a 22 lr in the well of the gun case on the swamp buggy.

For me, it would be my Reederized Redhawk on the side at all times and a Ruger bolt action scout rifle in 308 for clients who mess up shots.

Doug, you are no more bored than
