cylinders. The customer was using Armscor ammo and had a bad rubbing problem. He sent the cylinder back along with some Armscor ammo. The Winchester ammo we used and left in the cylinder did not rub at all. We got the cylinder back today and did some measuring. The Armscor 45 brass was .011 longer than the Winchester we used in our test firing. We can deepen the chambers, but then he could easily have misfires due to the firing pin not hitting the primer hard enough. His best bet is to use another brand of ammo. We have seen this in several guns, including 2 Ruger factory 45 ACP cylinders. Foreign brands often do not hold to the specs that SAAMI requires and all American brands have to abide by. I am not sure why this problem has cropped up in the last 6 months or so but it is a problem that needs solving. This problem does not occur in semi autos, as the slide slamming forward will push that cartridge a slight bit deeper in the chamber so there is no problem. We are talking about the thickness of 3 human hairs so it is not a big problem in a semi auto, but it is a problem in a revolver especially when we try to limit the headspacing to .004. If you have had a problem with a revolver cylinder in 45 ACP rubbing at the rear of the case, try another brand of ammo.
