the 378 Wby is sorta iffy. On our first safari in '92 Kase

had a new Ruger #1 in 378 WBY we had built that he wanted to try out. The factory cartridge was loaded way too hot for the bullet. It had a 270 grain soft point and it literally blew up on the shoulders of animals as small as Common Reedbuck which is the size of a whitetail deer. He shot a Blue Wildebeest 6 or 7 times and all it did was make a big wound maybe 4" across on the hide and penetrated maybe 2". Everything he shot had to be shot several times and in every instance the bullet was traveling way too fast and blew up on impact. So I guess I would be prone to agree with the gun writer on the 378 Wby's effectiveness.
