All I wanted was a couple simple nylon slings...

I used to buy the cheap Uncle Mikes 72" and trim them to my desire. They were less than $10, a shoulder handle. Great for hunting handguns. At my local dealer they are now $25. The sliders are made of plastic too.

Many may be already doing this but I hope it may help someone. I find on the net I can buy bulk heavy webbing (even titty pink Denning!) for less than $10 for like 30 feet! The steel sliding adjusters are (4) for $5. A $15 investment and I have (2) custom slings and enough material for (2) more for a total of $5 (another adjuster pack of 4).

That is (4) custom slings for 20% less than what store bought costs and no 11% local sales tax. Cripes, why are things so difficult today. I just want to walk into my local dealer and pay $15 for a US made steel quality product. I have to go make my own. If he had the vision he would be doing this himself and I'd have given him a handsome profit to prevent my trouble. FWIW.

It seems that to get what you want

one must order piecemeal from the internet.

On the topic of hunting sling, I make a paracord wrap using a cobra knot near the fore end of the TC. I find it makes a great front grip of sorts.

remember, 30 yrs ago you were making 25K/yr vs 80K/yr now for example...so it's all relative.

I guess so Woody, but quality slipped too.

IN a store I find what manufacturers "think" I should want. Not actually what "I" want. It's probably me but I like simplicity and quality. No money in making stuff that lasts or can be repaired!

this may be true but you never ran a large gun shop

we have to buy from distributors and they don't carry stuff like that, for the most part. And with the states including Arizona being forced to do the $15 minimum wage thing we can't hire a kid to make $15 per hour to make a sling that one person in 10,000 might want. There are plenty of excellent nylon slings out there along with dozens of nice padded leather slings to even think about going to all that trouble to save 17¢ per sling. You are living in the past. Wake up and smell the petunias.

Since you only charge yourself $.25

comes to my door, I don't even have to get dressed. Snip, snip, 30 seconds with a Bic lighter, I'm done. If I were in business I'd dealer up with 2-3 big rolls of different colors and a pile of adjusters and fasteners. Let customers design their own sling at a cost of $3 and profit of $12-$15 to the house! Make it right in the store. Everybody wins.

Hey, you have gotten me out of too

many gun jams to ever second guess! 35+ year close friends are rare, I’ll spot you a leather sling if you need one.
