We had a VERY good appt Thursday with Allie's liver surgeon !! He removed 25 percent of her liver from 2 different quadrants and ALL margins were clear of cancer cells SO NO follow up chemo needed at this time !, Allie was NOT looking forward to more chemo, we will meet with her medical oncologist next week and then there will likely order a PET scan and IF that is clear, then she will have scans every 3 months and blood work once a month , we are hoping they will re connect her ileostomy in early April (that would be a nice 42nd birthday present for her ) but they need to be sure the colon has healed completely and has no scar tissue in it's path, then the port will be surgically removed when they are sure it is time...this has been grueling past 14 months od 7 surgical procedure, many chemos, radiation, and TONS of Dr. Appts and there are a few hurdles yet to jump but, we are hopeful she is on the "home stretch" !! but a company in Israel has announced that they have found a way to cure ALL cancers by using a benign chemical that has three different cancer cell killers bonded to it. They have completed cured lab animals with no recurrence (100%) later. They are going to start clinical trials this year and expect it to be available in approximately three years if all goes well. This was on FOX News website about a week or so ago. I did not want to mention it as it might just raise false hopes but I have talked with several virologists and they believe that if they can bond 3 or more cancer killing agents to a harmless chemical that this would indeed be a cancer cure. I am praying that all goes well and this really does work and becomes available before some of my friends that I pray for daily are gone. Allison is one of them on our prayer list.

I watched my Dad go thru it from a healthy man to a man that had no idea who I was or who he was. Most of the time mentally he was a 10 year old again. That is hard watching someone you love go thru that. I hope and pray I don't put my family thru that.

walked with my Dad through more than 10 years of Alzheimers .. it was horrible.

what I have read and heard the normal time is only a couple of years as once the mind goes the body soon follows. Either way, I sure hope they find a cure for it before I follow in my Dad'd footsteps.

from around 2005 to 2012 when she died. The last 2 1/2 years my wife was with her 24/7 and she took care of her father as well. That is a horrible disease and I hope that I never put my family thought that.
