Reeder Custom Guns - A Colt Frontier Scout just finished for Rick Sim

When the gun came in it was pitted so bad all over and had deep dings and scratches, that I almost sent it back to Rick with a note saying we couldn't help it at all. Then I decided what the heck. Rick is semi rich, he can afford my exorbitant fee. I might as well see what I can do for this old dog (the gun, not Rick, Rick is beyond help). In the pictures you can see some of the pits that we were unable to get out and still keep the Colt logo. In fact there were some pits all over the gun and some are still visible. We blued the steel parts, high polished the aluminum parts, fire blued the small parts and made some red cherry grips for it. So it is sort of a red, white and blue Colt. But it is a lot better than it was and is ready for another 60 years.

and not to start a riot, check your answers before just throwing things out there guys. Did Colt actually make those in the United States or were they contracted abroad? I know Colt has had a long relationship with Astra in Spain, marketed many Astras marked "Colt" the Junior .22 & .25 is only one example. They also had a line of .22 rifles made by Beretta in Italy. Even today we have a .22 Colt M4 rifle that was made by Umarex in Germany for them. Good rifle!

Those always were really cute and desirable, must have made 100 different commemorative versions.

I've just always wondered and never spoke to anyone whom I truly believed to know the truth.

the mid 60s so I would bet it is all Colt. It wasn't until the early 70s that Colt started having Italian companies make guns for them (as far as I know).

This was something that was done by a lot of companies back then. Weatherby had some 22 semi auto rifles made by Beretta and some in Japan. The Jap guns were the prettiest but the Beretta guns usually go for a bit more $$.

possible, given how it looked...picked it up at the local gun parlor here in Venice, FL. Old gent had it on consignment. Was thinking about sending it to my new grandson (Mark's first offspring), but I may have to keep it close to home. Beautiful job Gary, many thanks to you and the crew.
