Found 2 old friends...sorta

Sometimes we can "fix" old mistakes or bad choices.

Two of mine were selling a rifle and revolver I had owned, handloaded for and hunted with over several years and then in two separate acts of insanity, sold. Other recent posts on here put me to remedy these two.

First, was the S&W 629PP (ported ahead of the front sight) pre-lock I took to the YO Ranch in 2004 at Gary's invitation. Had a great hunt with that revolver, 8 various species of does, mostly head shots at various ranges up to a 100 yards with open sights and my pet 240gr XTP load. Had my then 17yo son along to make it even more memorable, all while his mother was slowly wasting away to cancer. We went at her assistance, wise woman. Yep, sold it to fund another doomed purchase. Just found the exact revolver made the same year on GB, even had a factory action job like the old one. Shoots like a dream.

Next, was the Ruger M77 MKII Compact in .308W I took to Africa first time over in 2003. Took 5 wonderful trophies over the 7 days we hunted. Had my best friend and hunting partner with me. That was the little SS carbine with the 16.5" barrel and gray laminated stock. Lightweight, very accurate, perfect. Yep, sold it 3 years later, idiot.

Last week, I found the exact rifle in mint condition, scoped on GB. It's on its way to my FFL in Venice, FL arriving on the 25th by UPS.

Who says we can't fix some stupid mistakes. Old friends that I let go...there's a life lesson in there somewhere.
