Really strange day, drama chases me!

My goal in life is to enjoy calm and peace, shun dramatic antics. I've been helping a friend that I've known since 1st grade. Taking him to dialysis, picking him up etc. He's been living with with this old widow woman in a spare room. He's been telling me the old lady has been getting mean with him and some other stories about her old husband's friend being in cahoots wanting to swindle him out of his guns. He got to thinking they were waiting for him to die so they could keep them. I found today he was not joking, seems that was the plan. We went over there and got all his firearms and the old lady was tweaked! I need to go back and help gather a literal truck load of ammo and accessories. I don't know how that is going to go. We got (47) firearms, they are stacked like cord wood in my shop. They include a Semi-auto M1919, LAR .50 BMG, and a ton of other stuff, including some junk. Alas, his lifetime of collecting. I'm trying to re-arrange my safe to pack 6-8 of the more expensive in there now.

It was very tense over there. I sure do want him to get out and in a better safe place. The dialysis center has a lead on a assisted living facility for him but no guns. He has no family to speak of, no one else to help him. I hope to help clear stuff out tomorrow after church. Hope there is no altercation. I guess he might have to stay with me a day or two. It looks like may be buying Dave a gun safe.

if he has some that have no sentimental allure to him, go

ahead and post them on here. Or if you don't want to go thru that, send them out here. I will post them on here and move them for him. Just a thought.

Boy I don't know even what to tell him

He's getting short. I've been hauling him to church too. Gone from 220 lbs. to 134 now. I think he certainly needs to thin the herd. This is a process. Thanks for the idea/offer, it helps.

Sometimes, and more often than not folks would

Rather die with their possessions rather than part with them even if doing so could provide money that would improve their financial situation and quality of life. All you can do is offer. Good luck!

I just want him comfortable and happy

he can barely walk and that .50 BMG is too much for him now, ditto that tri-pod mounted belt fed M1919. I might set that up for him! He can have a little fun. He had a Dr. that might be interested in the M1919.

Talking about stuff we'll never do. Makes you think.

You are doing good Scotty.

You have or how little one had there are always disgusting low lifes out there trying to figure out a way to steal it. Being old and sick makes one even more vulnerable. Be careful when you go to get the remainder of his stuff. Having worked where we dealt with assisted living facilites I cannot recall one out of the couple hundred I dealt with that allowed firearms. Plus they are gonna be around $3000/month for a decent one.

Round up a few friends to help move

I have had my share of the same with my parents, uncles, friends...greedy, stupid, weak-minded parasitical types seem to breed and hatch with the dead and dying, they have their reward. Be careful, watch your back and God Bless!
