Part 3 (no names) "The Situation"

I had a hard time figuring it. How a feller that could hardly stand, literally, could have a felony warrant (two actually) issued for aggravated assault. It just didn't make sense and the guy who'd since been in the hospital a couple months was little help. It slowly came back to him after I went and collected the reports.

Seems some tree trimming guys, subcontractors, had come onto his place in the country. Unknowing to them they were about the third set of unsolicited invaders, previous ones had insulted the ill old man and ignored him, rutted up the place and made a mess. THIS time the old man came pushing his walker with one hand, and a shotgun in the other. They took him serious this time. He made them pick up the limbs they had cut and leave.

But you can't do that. Not even on your own property. Utilities have "right-of-way" to access and maintain, even via contractors. AND you cannot threaten folks with a weapon, that adds the "aggravated" part as well as the felony to the assault. Three guys wrote a statement, two charges, and that's why they carted the old guy off to the hoose-cow, after checking with the hospital to make sure it would not kill him outright. They let me bond him out before time for his dialysis appointment that day. Shee-it!

He didn't make enough income for the assisted living facility (I'm double checking that) and got some Medicare assistance filed today. I also got a couple different apps for the county housing authority programs. He's given all he has away and is running the clock out. Staying with me at the moment but I can't provide the care he needs. Running options, something will work. Court hearing is Tuesday.

Kind of a cliff hanger ain't it?!

Keeping you in prayer.

Just got off the phone with another buddy that is single and might take him for a few days. I got to try and get him cleaned up tonight. I might let him try him some next week. I probably got him till Tues for sure. Then I can get some options checked out.

I bet we can get that debacle plea bargained down, would love to solicit the charges dropped, or a lesser charge and probation. Any sentence is likely to be a life one.

If the church congregation finds out they'd be all over it for sure. He likely does not want that much attention. A few friends together can get him comfortable.

Is he a Vet? If so look into Aid and Assistance

I have had some extensive experience in assisting the elderly. Email me gtwedgeworth@gmail.com and let's work out a time to call and talk. What state do you live in?

That's great, ...Arkansas.
