I favor the old guns and enjoy any Colt.

But the Colt .22 auto has some small tinny parts that usually work fantastic until they don't. Most folks are dead that know how to fix them best. The HS guns are winners and fantastic, but magazines are $50 each on a good day and parts are getting sporadic.

About 20 yrs. ago a friend and I entertained ourselves with a Ruger MKI target equipped with a 4X Leupold M8 and a new 9" barrel Browning bull barreled Buckmark which had a 2-6x Bushnell on it. We took turns seeing who missed first pinging over 1/5 scale silhouette chickens at a measured 100 meters. They are about the size of a chicken egg. The old guns MIGHT hold their own IF you could add sights precise enough such as these. We had to aim about a foot high and there was a slight delay but once we figured that out we ran them a long time off a good solid rest. Parts and aftermarket galore still for those two guns and I have NEVER seen a S&W anything (personally) that could hold close, much less a revolver. Well an old M27 8-3/8 came close. FWIW
