MY COLLECTOR FRIEND SAYS: "HAMDEN GOOD; HARTFORD BAD!" MEANING THE HAMDEN GUNS ARE MOSTLY OF A HIGHER QUALITY THAN THOSE MADE IN HARTFORD.

It was a later gun so probably classed in the bad address batch. However, while I do not think the guns are inherently more accurate than many of today's fine guns, it flat had one thing going for it. Shootability. The grip angle, grips, balance, sighting plane, sight picture, and trigger all worked together to help the shooter stack the bullets on the target. If you missed it was all your fault.
I had a shot at it but with the box, papers, extra weights etc. he wanted $600 and got it. It was too much for what I wanted out of a .22 pistol but I do fondly remember shooting it. A fine piece it was.

invested way too heavily in a new 44 Magnum revolver called the Crusader which had way too many bugs. they kept investing and he said it put them too far in the hole and to recoup the money wasted they started cutting corners on their main bread & butter, the 22 autos and it resulted in low quality and even lower sales. This may be what John Taffin mentioned above.
