Reeder Custom Guns - Today I was thinking about a friend

who had passed from pancreatic cancer. Pete was a stand up guy and a veteran. Sadly this disease took him. An avid shooter and hunter he was great to chat with.

I recall being at the range one day and I shot his SW 460 revolver. It wasn't too bad but it did have one hell of a report with the muzzle brake on it.

We had a couple of drinks and he said that he would like to be able to take that gun to Alaska on a hunt. We talked a bit more and it sounded pretty intriguing.

As I stated before, sadly he passed before having a chance at such a dream.

I my life I am at a point where I am thinking of some bucket lists of sorts. Some are outlandish but others are quite doable and practical.

One will be in 25 days. Myself and four friends from our rod and gun club will head to the Sunshine State for a hog hunt. We are set for a great time together. I am looking forward to an escape from some stresses in life and be with friends who I can say have my back.

We also plan to have a bit of fun afterwards but nothing that will land us in jail, I hope.

After that, I hope that more things regarding adventure are to come.

Time will tell.

I can hunt Africa 2 or 3 times for what I spend on one trip to Alaska. A good friend hunted Alaska last fall for Grizzly and caribou. It cost him $24000 and he saw one little caribou. Another friend went to Alaska for Grizzly. it cost him $18,000 and he saw nothing but small black bears. And both of these guys had to pay full price for nothing but 5 days in Alaska. I love Alaska but they are pricing themselves out of the price range for the average hunter. In Africa you pay for what you kill, not what you went over there for. I hope to go back to Alaska one day but I would rather go back to Africa first.

Moose in Alaska. I'll never see it. That would be a quarter of my take home pay in a year. Never had aspirations of Africa myself. Wish I could yes. Good luck to all that can. Just keep posting pictures.

in Africa, take 3 or 4 plains game animals for around $8000 plus the airfare. Some of my guys in the shop went with me
in 2017 and took 3 or 4 animals each and their bill was between $7000 and $8000, plus airfare, which is about $1500. And just like the 2020 hunt I have been mentioning, the guys can send in $300 or so every few weeks and in a year have a nice little nest egg already paid in and probably most of the hunt paid for.That is what Colleen and I do. Plus a lot of the guys sell off some extra guns and equipment to get a bit more $$ ready for the hunt. So it's not as bad as one might think.

forget about how much that always dreamed of item is going to cost...the hearse won't be making a stop at the bank. Go now...do it now...you might not be alive next year...you might not ever see that well funded retirement day. If you have a dream "whatever"....get it done while you can. Don't ever think that because you are not old and/or you are healthy right now your chips won't get cashed in....I will leave it right there.
