Reeder Custom Guns - I have a box of 540 grain SuperHardCast

Hammerhead at 1550 fps in 45-70. Is there anyone that would like to try them at the next HHC? The box says fire only in Marlin rifles made since 1998. (An aside, does anyone know how to determine the date of manufacture for a Marlin 1895?) In keeping with the article that Brian posted below, will this make a hog any deader, quicker and take only one hit to anywhere in the body???LOL I think I bought this in the mid 2000's before Randy Garrett sold his business but don't remember. I had delusions of being able to go to Africa on one of the GNR hunts, but somehow was always too busy and now am too old. So, bottom line is anyone interested in trying a round?

Marlin Year of Manufacture

Marlin year of manufacture maybe determined from the following list of letter/numeral prefixs to the serial number; this coding only applies to serialized rifles:

1946-C
1947-D
1948-E
1949-F
1950-G
1951-H
1952-J
1953-K
1954-L
1955-M
1956-N
1957-P
1958-R
1959-S
1960 (August)-1961-U
1961 (August)-1962-V
1963-W
1964-Y,-Z
1965-AA
1966-AB

Starting in 1973, the year of manufacture maybe determined by subtracting the first two digits of the serial number from 100:
Example: SN 2512345 would have been made in 1975 [100 - 25 = 75] and SN 94365295 would have been made in 2006 [ 100 - 94 = 06 (2006) ].

job and opened up the throats so that my rifle will chamber them without a problem. Offer still stands, I will have the rifle and ammo there if anyone wants to try it.

I believe the reasoning for using certain dated rifles, is that the throats were too short, could be wrong.

First model 1895's ('73- '76) had a B prefix
