Getting the 300 GNR ready for this

season's rock chucks. I have had a problem with it stringing shots vertically, still within a chuck's body but I wanted to try and take that out of it. I was thinking maybe light primer strikes since I use pistol primers in the 30-30 case. A quick firing pin change hoping for a little extra length ( my wife says aren't we all). After stepping out back to give it a try it still revealed vertical stringing. My next thought was I am getting bullet jump with the primer before the powder gets a good burn going, so as WB would say "an old indian trick" I decided to try putting a small strip of paper in my primer seater between primer and pocket then seating the primer through the paper. Hoping to do two things 1) to get the primer closer to flush in the case and 2) this is actually the thing that I thought would work, is to weaken the primer flash enough to maybe not push the bullet so much before the powder gets going. I don't know which it was but it now shoots little groups all nice and centered.

Feeling pretty confident in myself I took a little drive to a couple chuck hideouts. The first one was at 76 yds and the second at 61. 2 for 2 I should quit and say I had a perfect season.
