Today I found the Innovator Award that The Shootists had given my Dad back in 1992. It was for his work on the Taylor Throat and the SGB Tool ... both of which Gary has refined, improved and continued to work with.

Paco and Ed Wosika marketed it back in the day and called it the Small Game Bullet tool ... SGB. In later years Ed took it to an ammo company to see if they would be interested in buying the idea. They said "No thanks." Then in a short time came out with a flatnosed .22 round called the SGB ...
Dad didn't want anything for the stuff he developed, but it would have been nice of them if they would have sent him a few free boxes of ammo.
He gave the Taylor Throat to the Wesson boys who used it in their revolvers. He told them he did not want anything for it as Major Wesson had helped him get into the MP's in WWII.
At the NRA Show in '93 they presented him with a .445 SuperMag that had his name and the date as the serial number. He sure was proud of that gun.
He would have been interested in your work with the throating.

I think, asked if it was like the tool paco developed. I told him I had no idea as I had not seen a tool from Paco.
Your Dad's Taylor Throat was the inspiration for our Maxi Throat. With the longer, heavier bullets these days I figured a deeper throat in a revolver would help with accuracy and also decrease the pressures a bit. But it was never meant to be "better" than your Dad's tool. In fact I had never heard of it until someone on here asked me if it was the same thing. Then if I remember right you answered that and mentioned that it was developed by your Dad. I was intent on working on both ends of a barrel to increase accuracy and never meant to duplicate or copy anyone's tool.

and none of us ... Paco ... myself .. my Dad .. ever thought you were duplicating or copying anything. Dad was always happy seeing new ideas that helped improve accuracy and like I said earlier, he never wanted anything .. money or recognition .. for the things he did. He enjoyed tinkering and had lots of weird and wonderful ideas. It's probably a good thing he and Waterboy never met.
Some of his last projects involved rifling pistol barrels for extreme accuracy. Gain Twist rifling and tapered bores. John Taffin sent him a bunch of barrels I believe it was ... he had some interesting configurations and some were pretty durn accurate.
