Well I made it through that class Sat.
I ended up using the Israeli Police FN HP and it was a good choice for me. It was the ONLY "old" gun there. I saw several Glocks, and M&Ps. Steve used a big CZ he has, not a 75, forget the model. One young whipper snapper complimented me on using a 1911! I politely set him straight, he thought that was cool too, an Air Force fellow. He had spent some time in AK and knew Trapper Creek well, we made friends.
It's so silly now but I was nervous shooting the single shot stage at 15 yds. I got a little wild and threw some shots, all in the 7 ring as needed, 2 seconds from ready position. Everybody shoots too fast, including me. We did a 3-string course of that. Myself and another boy tied for top shots with a 49/50 score because both of us fired on a "Stop" beep. We got out of time, and a deduct. My main group was tighter than his though and he was shooting a new SIG 320. It was fun.
The class ran from 9 a.m. till about 3 p.m. We all got our enhanced endorsement on our license and can carry more places. Some good training.

As to my FN HP it is a bit of an odd one. It is a late MKII but has some features mostly thought to be MKIII exclusives if you look it up. The ambidextrous safety, round top slide with dovetail front sight and taller rear. Both have milled recesses for "white squares" or paint like mine. Most importantly the underside of the slide does not have the cut out or firing pin safety. I do not like that feature, nor the mag disconnect. A feature I instantly threw aside as I did the Pachmayr Presentation grips that drug on the mag.
It's my second HP and I am a bit surprised with all the hype over the years I've heard. As was my military model had an atrocious trigger and needed a serous tune. Not a task for the unlearned or timid. I struggled through stoning the bevel on the sear and bending the trigger return spring just so. It has a 4# pull like breaking angel hair pasta. It really shoots great deliberately, and with practice I see it has some potential under duress and time limitations.
