They had the little 22 Revolvers and then some 45 Magnum and 454 Revolvers if I remember right. I was in Junior High, so mid to late 70s?

mini revolver in 1978 (if I remember my dates correctly) and later on sold the mini revolver design to North American Arms. So Freedom Arms was first. But that is not what the quiz is about.

cases are marked North American Arms and they have the large primer pocket. The quiz had nothing to do with who came first, who's on first or who flung dung.

It didn't have adjustable sights, but was like an oversized Vaquero. High Polished stainless steel. It had two cylinders, 454 Casull and 45 Win Mag.

I spoke to the owner a couple years back and he'd lost the 454 cylinder through the years. That's really sad too. Doubt they're common these days.

Not sure how gun was marked, been too long. Think the loads were layered with different kinds of powder? Too long ago and I was too young.

J&G sales back in the late 70s and early 80s was my supplier of Lee's Auto Mags and Howdahs and other exotic guns and he told me in '81 that they had the NAA 450 ordered and would get me the first one they got in. In early '82 I left the gun shop as I was still in radio and moved to Sarasota Florida to manage a radio station on an island off Sarasota and at that time Mark had not got any of them in yet. In '85 I retired from radio and bought a gun shop from a friend in Santa Fe. I talked to Mark in '85 about any special guns for my new shop and he mentioned then that he didn't have any Auto Mags in stock or Howdahs or AMT longslides and he had never received any of the NAA guns. So that is all I know.

I know it made such an impression that I got you to high polish my 454 Casull you built me so it would remind me of shooting that gun.

I remember the 45 Win Mag had bullet pull while shooting and I've avoided the round ever since.

Never could understand the lack of adjustable sights?

production records which said they never sent any out to gun shops until early '84. So really who cares. I didn't post the quiz to get into a dick measuring contest.

until late '81 or early 82. The first guns actually made it to gun shops in '84 and there was only around 500 of them made before they dropped them in '87 or '88. So saying they were first is sorta a maybe. Freedom Arms 454 made it to the gun shops in late '83. So theoretically Freedom Arms was first. But again that is not what the quiz was about.
