Huey is way advanced in exploring this platform on the Single-six and even Bearcats for the ultimate small frame centerfire trailgun. It is my summary that there is no PERFECT one but it is a total hoot to pursue the concept. Huey has a bunch and I had to be a bit more selective, at least at this point. I chose a .40 S&W on the Single-six 5-shot. On a friendly level I was ridiculed a bit for my choice "Why not the 10mm". I understand that but 10mm brass is about 4x the expense of .40 hulls that folks seem to not want. In this format you only have to seat the bullets long and load the full 10mm charge. At least it works on the longer projectiles and there is no danger of getting them into a .40 S&W auto's mag, much less chamber.

Huey was so kind to send me some of his favorite projectiles to test before I send off and buy my own to continue testing. The small coated projectile is a plain base 140 gr. that is very interesting for a lighter load. However after looking at powder combinations most will still punt it out at around 1200 fps even at .40 S&W levels. I'd have to really tame it down with some flake shotgun powders. The 180 gr. is a natural bullet weight choice and these are two fine examples in the .400 caliber. I'm an old die hard cast curmudgeon and just love the looks of that cavernous HP. At 900-1000 fps I suspect it will be perfect for my needs.

I'll play around and while my front sight is interchangeable I will most likely out of laziness just work within it's height range and the adjusting range of the factory rear sight. The gun is a dream and I've always strive to keep my interest piqued by outdoing my last Reeder Custom. I've had an easy time of maintaining my goals.

All I use in my 10mm Trail Gun. They expand better than any I've tried.
