I had never owned a Speed Six but always liked the way they felt in shooting and carrying. I bought one last weekend at very good price from an old friend who was thinning the herd. It is in my favorite barrel length (4 inch) and is pristine. One of the grip panels is too short and poorly fitting, so new grips are planned for it. Happy to have this one.

That is a very pleasing service revolver.

It is sort of chunky, ample in case you clodded someone over the head with it. Is it "pistol whip"? The sights are actually visible and by golly a blued or black front. Why S&W, Walther, AMP, etc. put invisible fronts sights on their stainless guns? Plenty of heft for full house .357's.

It was a simple and well thought out design for police and foreign Govt. It was popular worldwide. Ruger's M10 M&P, only better. Except for rosy eyed old curmudgeons. LOL

It would work for pistol whipping. Of course, as you know, the S&W Model 28 may be the best all time for that. I shot the Speed Six a bunch today. Shoots 158 grain .357 full power loads right to point of aim at 20 yards, so I am happy. Just a little higher with 180s. With all the bigger cartridges around, it is easy to forget that the .357 is really a powerful revolver in a light easy to pack package. This one will serve as my Jeep gun for now.
