If you dont hit them square expect to land on your head and those rails aint soft. Just lift the front a little and then hop, momentum will carry you over. You need to 'hop' to get the front over the next rail while your rear wheel is hitting the first. Not hard just takes a little practice to get the timing down. One time we had to run down about a mile of old railway over the ties between the rails. My teeth still chatter thinking about it.
