and we were both shocked about one glaring fault. The std. 1911 grips do not fit. They are off several thousandths and the holes do not align. That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I have to ask WHY?! There is an open opportunity for some goober to capitalize on a situation and manufacture some "offset" Rock Island Conversion bushings. They actually have Rock Island Specific grips for sale now.

Something so simple. The charm of the 1911 Govt. model is the commonality of parts made from 1911 to now. Why, oh why, screw up such a basic thing as grip bushing alignment specs.?!

Really? That's surprising.

deal. I have seen Springfield Armory guns off half a hole. The newer Colt 1911s tend to have that problem too. More than likely it is the grips but even if it is the gripframe, it still is no big deal. You have the equipment, deal with it. Never sweat the small stuff.

the average business card is .015 so a few

thousandths is nothing. Why are you having a hissy fit over such a small thing?

Aw I been talking them up real big, and my buddy

goes off and spends $450 on one. Two sets of "Colt" grips like about 1/8" fitting, no way the grips will fit as is. Of course a dremel would fix it or custom grips. It's just the idea of it, our world certainly is not perfect, and I feel slipping more. I was just having an off day I guess. I'm cool.

CHECK YOUR GRIPS! I JUST BOUGHT A

RIA 1911 .22 MAGNUM AND HERRETT'S CHECKERED ROSEWOOD FIT PERFECTLY. DOESN'T SEEM TO TAKE MUCH TO SHOCK YOU AND IF THIS IS THE DUMBEST THING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN YOU MUST BE HIDING IN A CAVE SOMEWHERE. WE JUST INSTALLED A WEAVER BASE ON A LEVERGUN AND WE HAD TO SLIGHTLY FILE ONE HOLE TO GET IT TO LINE UP. NO SHOCK; NO DUMBEST THING. JUST FIXED IT.

some little thing like that came up, I would have stressed myself into a grave long ago. We built a nice set of grips for my RIA 22 Magnum. Mine shoots the Hornady Critical Defense 22 magnum into a dime size hole at 20 yards.

that pretty much every gripframe from different manufacturers will vary some. Very seldom will a Colt grip fit a Sp. Armory. Kimber grips don't even fit another Kimber. So SHIT HAPPENS. Take your Valium pill and relax. Like is way too short to whine and cry about every little "bump in the road".
