Not a handgun question, but I need some

input regarding rifles. Years of farm work and powerlifting have taken a toll on my shoulders and as a result I’m working through some minor shoulder issues. Right now shooting my bigger handguns is a bit uncomfortable and not very enjoyable. Rifle shooting isn’t too discomforting and I’m on the mend. Hopefully I’ll be handgun healthy in a few months. In the meantime I’m looking at adding a second .44 magnum lever action to go along with my Marlin 1894 to my rifle family and would like your thoughts on the Henry and Rossi rifles as well as Winchester’s 1892. I’d like you thoughts and experiences.....the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks.

If you are referring to the Henry single shot

Their triggers are extremely heavy. Why not go with a G2 or Encore carbine. My favorite is my G2 Carbine in 445 SM.

I HAVE .44 LEVERGUNS FROM HENRY, ROSSI, WINCHESTER,

BROWNING AS WELL MARLIN. THEY ARE ALL KEEPERS. THEY CAN BE FINICKY ABOUT AMMUNTION ESPECIALLY CAST BULLETS BUT WITH EXPERIENCE YOU LEARN WHAT WORKS.

I love my Marlins but I use my Ruger

Carbine quite a lot and it is a well balanced handy rifle.

Rossi 44 mags are great. I've got a 16" stainless model. Hunted with a custom Marlin 44 with a 16" barrel for years. After one year hunting with the Rossi it changed from being my backup to my primary. Really light. Need to let Gary put X's sights on it.

I really enjoy shooting my M92 Rossi, but it will not feed SWC bullets. Other styles work just fine though.

I don't think any lever gun was designed

to feed flat nose SWC bullets. Just like most 1911s won't feed SWCs. You are trying to make it do something against it's design.

The Henry does NOT have as comfortable

a recoil pad as the Marlin 1894! I have arthritis in my shoulders so I am careful about the Pads. I do not have a Rossi so have no opinion or real first hand knowledge about them.

John is such a tease. You already have the best in your 1894

Marlin. Try Rossi or if you can find one, the Ruger semi auto 44 is a good one. You missed a great one a week or so ago on the Saturday sale in a Ruger model 96 44 lever gun. Super smooth.

Ditto on the Ruger semi 44, wife loves hers, lots of game
