What is your favorite type of holster? I have one of Gary's Jaqui slides but I would like something that covers the gun so it isn't exposed in public, so to speak.

I'm inclined towards a Simply Rugged Sourdough holster but I would like to see what others use. Thank you.

Check out Crossbreed holsters. Leather and Kydex, top notch—

I have worn the same Yaqui holster since 1985

and I prefer it because when and if I need it it is right there, no snapping buttons, pushing levers or doing anything that might stop me from getting the gun out and into my hand ready for whatever. Yes, it is exposed, but in bad weather it is covered by a coat or sweatshirt. In the summer any holster you buy that is not exposed is going to slow you down getting the gun into play. It may not be the best holster made but thru well over 30 years of carrying a gun it has never failed me and is always there when I need it, and if I need it I need it right now, not in 15 seconds after I pull my shirt out of the way or unzip my pants or any other contortions necessary to get that gun in my hand. Just my humble opinion but it is the only holster I would bet my life on.

None of the holsters mentioned prevent this. It is about your over cover garment.

This has been my go to for many years

This is a Glaco AV218, they come in different lengths, but this is what I have. It has been my favorite.[image]

you need that gun quick or you carry in the open. There is no in between. If your state says it can't be seen then you need to make a decision on whether you carry or not. When I go out I always have a small auto in one of my cowboy boots and normally my PD mexican carry in the small of my back behind my belt. In a worse case scenario my PD is in Colleen's purse along with 3 or 4 guns she carries at any one time. But that is only if we are in a place where guns are prohibited like a bank or courthouse etc. I figure one of those gun free zones is an awful good place for a crazy to start trouble, so if I am there I have a gun on me. Maybe not in the open like one of my Yaqui holsters but in a boot or somewhere. So it is a decision you have to make. As my old Grandaddy used to say "carry that gun like a man son, or get you a purse like a woman". He was right.

If you go for IWB, you use a Calco Summer Comfort:

If I am carrying outside the belt, I use a Mernickle PS6MR
