enjoy reading your perspectives regarding the newer products compared to tried and proven performers. I don't remember my dad ever using a jacketed handgun bullet for hunting. He took a tremendous amount of game using his .44 Special with cast bullets. On the other hand the bulk of my game has been taken with Sierra 180 grain JHC bullets in my .44 Magnums and lately the 170 grain JHC in my .410 GNR Stealth Hawk. Those lightweight bullets have been unreal performers when I do my part.
A few years before he passed away, I asked my dad why he didn't try the jacketed bullets and his response was one you can't argue with. He figured there wasn't anything he cared to hunt in North America that he couldn't kill with a good cast bullet in his .44 Special. It worked for him since the late 1930's, so why change? Nothing wrong with new advances, and new guns....but my dad often said one thing you constantly mention. Accuracy kills....not speed.
