At Gary's suggestion we took factory loaded Hornady 300gr DGX for our 375 H&H #1. This one was recoverd under the off side hide of Nancy's buffalo. Final weight was 241.5gr and expanded to .749". [image] [image]

The buffalo never moved after the first shot. He just stood there head down bleeding. It took 2 more to tip him over, tough animals.

If they make an applicable XTP Bullet for what I'm shooting, the choice is made.

Expanding) 500 grain bullet on my Cape Buffalo and Colleen used the .458 caliber 350 grain Hornady soft point on her Cape Buff. Both of us took 2 rounds to put our Cape Buffalo down.

I have used the Hornady 265 grain 44 caliber soft point in my 44 Auto Mag thru the years on Bison and the same .458 caliber 350 grain Hornady soft point that Colleen used in my 450 GNR on Bison and other big animals several times thru the years.

On my first trip to Africa in 1992 I knew nothing about hunting big game in Africa and took the advice of those I thought knew everything. Following their ill conceived advice I took 500 grain Hornady solids in my 450 GNR Contender. I shot big Kudu, Eland and other large critters with that bullet. To me Hornady is the only way to go for big dangerous game.
