Is converting a marlin 1895 45-70 to 450 gnr just a rechamber or is there more work involved?

the lifter a bit to lever up a longer cartridge. The extractor needs work as the 348 rim is wider than the 45-70 rim. The old caliber and other writing have to be changed by law so that requires a reblue. So yes it is a bit more than just a rechamber.

Can you extend the lever? My fingers barely fit in the factory lever and with heavy loads it bashes them pretty good.

rechamber to 450 GNR...$250
reblue with new caliber etc...$400
new internals and maybe new sights..$250 to $350
and those are the bare minimum costs. No action job, no Positive Performance Package, etc. A new barrel would run about $600 to $700 more. That is why the field grade Mega Beast on your rifle at $1995 is such a good deal.
