Places like Missoula, Bozo, Jackson "Hole" and a few others generally vote democratic. But since they are the more populated counties they tend to sway the state elections. John Tester in MT has never won his own county and tpically only wins a few counties. But because of their population he has stayed a Senator. Oh and the NA reservations as he promises more money. Which is funny because I know the county he comes from and most cant stand him.
