I say "holo-type" because I don't know what else to call them. Got a friend with a Burris Fast-fire, the 2nd generation I think, and he may be willing to part with it. I just don;t know about these things. I've just used scopes for years....any advice is helpful...

I have a Burris Fast Fire 2 on my turkey gun and

on a Ruger MK3 22 and they work great. Fast and accurate.

They are great out to about 50 yards

Great for short range quick shots

the red dots are normally not as pin point accurate

as a scope as at ranges of 50 yards or so, as Blake said, the dot covers up too much of the target. But for close range on large critters where you don't have to put the bullet in a 2" square, they are fine. The Fast Fire 2 is not the better one. Unless they have changed it, you have to take the unit off the gun to replace the battery. On the FF 3 you can change the battery from the top.

I had a FF2 on my first 356 GNR pistol barrel

Personally, I like scopes better. I gave that one to my son and ordered myself another and put a Burris 2-7X scope on it. I find acquisition and accuracy better with the scope.
