I w]as taught that the Bible should interpret the Bible. Here is a verse that applies to the question.

James 1:13 in various translations:

When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; New International Version

Don't let anyone under pressure to give in to evil say, "God is trying to trip me up." God is impervious to evil, and puts evil in no one's way. The Message

When you are tempted don’t ever say, “God is tempting me,” for God is incapable of being tempted by evil and he is never the source of temptation. The Passion Translation
