Regarding Gary’s 45acp conundrum...

the fridge and get a beer while I expound on my never ending opinions. I would stay away from gimmick cartridges. By that I mean the 357 Sig, the 440 Cor Bon, the 460 Rowland, the 45 Super, and any of the gimmick loadings. Cops like to talk praise about the 357 Sig as they were brain washed at the academy by their instructors. But I have talked to quite a few cops that say they have had failure to feed problems with it unless they have a 2 handed death grip on it. And that makes sense. And cops have more of a chance to be in a gunfight where they don't have 2 hands on the gun, so there is a chance of the misfeeding.

The Rowland and Super are good cartridges but both have a lot more recoil than normal and again unless you have a good two handed hold on the gun the recoil could easily tend to make you lose the grip on the gun for that needed second or third shot and cause a stovepipe situation. My simple recommendation is stay with a simple hard ball round. Sight your gun in with it and stay away from the gimmick stuff.
