one of his Vietnam experiences. He was on patrol with some Marines and a VC came up out of a spider hole and was ready to pull the pin on a grenade. His First SGT was with them and he pulled and fired his .45acp before anyone else realized what was happening. Jim told me that the VC just folded up DRT. The ammo was standard 230 grain FMJ. I have seen folks shot with some of these wonder bullets in the ER and they were torn up pretty bad. I asked the police what they were shot with and he said it was a 9mm hollow point but they didn't know the bullet until a cartridge was found. Turned out it was Speer round, I found out later after I was released from the hospital.....NO IT WAS NOT ME! I had problems with my heart and they were doing a precautionary bunch of tests. I have seen what a .45acp FMJ will do to the human body and it creates some pretty nasty wounds and will definitely put someone down. Personally, I would rather carry my .44 mag redhawk but that would look rather combative when not necessary, on the other hand, this IS Alabama.....LOL

and asked if I needed help. I told him my 45 weren't doing any good. He said let me try a 223. And he did. Then we spent 30 minutes on the side of the road following the bullet holes to see why the 45 JHPs didn't do any harm.
When I hit that bull elk a couple of years back another highway patrolman came to the scene and we talked guns for an hour while some morons stole the elk not 100 yards behind us. We thought they were just looking at it. But 4 guys picked him up, pitched him in the truck and rode off, while the patrol car with blue lights flashing was 100 yards from them. Ballsy.

With the switch fom jhps, which would penetrate better the fmj round nose or the flat point fmj? Will have to find some flat nose fmjs have plenty of round nose. Any one ever tried the fmj flat nose 45 acps?
