I was helping out a friend who got his hours cut. He rewarded me a good deal, tried several days to find someone else, everyone wanted to trade, nobody pony'd up cash he needed. Never had looked at them but who does not like a RH? It does NOT "feel" like Gary's reworked versions. They did give it more of a rounded butt. Maybe it's the melding of the grips to the frame, their contour. These look great but feel like ones produced by a company then shipped and bolted up indiscriminately. NO substitute for custom fitting. Gary does other subtle things that somehow collectively add up to something special. I've held them, looking, trying to figure what specifically makes it feel so different. This one looks the part and is a fine gun but it's not truly custom. Pretty durn nice for off the shelf for sure! I was also shocked at the list price on these, near $1100! Quality really costs these days in our plastic world. Even wholesale is 100% increased from my old dealer prices early this century. But what was a $30k F150 lists for $60k now too.

The gun is solid and a fine piece as is or base to customize. Trigger pulls and action are hefty poundage but smooth and usable. One of the GNR tuning package deals would really make things nice and be certainly justified. My friend added some fiber rear sights, I had only a gold bead in my kit, it adds light to the sides of the sight picture I need, adds precision. Ruger relieved the rear of the cylinder so it takes .45 ACP in clips. Auto rim won't fit, they didn't think it would be worth the rework, likely right. Lots of discussion about .45 Win. Mag. and I see no reason they won't plop right in, tolerance wise. Factory WM is 40k cup and too hot for me but I personally believe this gun could manage it, even if the factory would not approve, due to their Lawyers. Some cases to customize lesser loads but over ACP levels would be sublime. Easy to carry and fast working with the full moon clips. I must get some brass.

The big bore RH is lighter than it looks as it is full of big holes! I think I'm going to stick this one in the keeper pile.
