Year ago, testing a Combat Commander 9mm

I realized why people liked that caliber.

It was louder than a .45 ACP so it "projected" to them that it was powerful. AND ... it did not have any recoil. So it was easier for them to shoot.

I killed some different animals with it including some big dogs that were chasing our bull. It worked ok ... like any caliber ... if you put the shot in the right place. I used 125 gr. jhp and 147 gr. jhp on the big dogs and could tell no difference in size of exit wounds or how quick they dropped. They worked and that was all I cared about. But I would not put any faith in trick bullets no matter how much jello the maker had shot with them.

My preference is still the larger calibers, tho if I carried a small autoloader the 9mm makes sense. It just never was my preference.

I carried the 9mm Commmander for a couple years and then traded it for 2 1st Generation Colt SAA sixguns. One a .45 and one a .32-20. I felt I got the best end of that deal.
