a couple of morons that are hunting Cape Buff with 10mm, but that is just a stunt that could get someone hurt or killed. One incident I heard of took 11 rounds of 10mm plus the PH had to shoot it 2 or three times. A good hunter should make sure and put the animal down as quick as possible. Anything else is a show off. Before I went to Africa this last time I asked my PH what should I use. I had an option of a 416 GNR with a 400 grain solid or a 450 GNR with a 500 grain solid or 500 grain soft point, both the new Hornady Dangerous Game bullets. He told me to bring the 450 GNR and use the 500 grain soft point, which I did. I dropped him one shot and I put another insurance shot in him. In the pic below you can see where the 500 grain soft point hit him just above the point of shoulder. He was facing me at the shot and the PH said when he turns his head a bit to hit him high on the point of shoulder. You can tell by the angle of the bullet wound that the shot came from the front.

I will admit to taking more than 1 shot on some of my big animals but everything in those pics went down with one shot. I have blown up 4 scopes thru the years on that little barrel, 2 Leupold 2X scopes, 1 Burris 2X and one Burris 3X. I even had to drown a big Nilgai after my scope blew and I hit him about 15" low, which turned into a cluster. Five rounds later he jumped into the lake and drowned. He probably was embarrassed at my shitty shooting.
I was lucky enough to take the Central African buffalo, called the Savannah Buffalo, years back with my 410 GNR in a revolver. One shot put him down too.255 grain 41 caliber lead gas check. You can see the blood on the point of shoulder where he was hit.

and quite a few more that I can't think of right now, plus a lot of African and Australian animals too. But as good as they are on big stuff, they are no good on thin skinned animals like deer and such. They zip right thru.
