Chiggers suck!

not a thing you can do, realistically, except itch and heal. The books say if you seal the holes in your hide from air they will not itch. Seems I can never achieve an adequate seal with suggested nail polish and other over the counter remedies.

Last infestation I had was about 3 days prior to a very compromising medical procedure where I was to be sedated. I was so embarrassed (aside from the basic process) that my lower half was covered with red patches and claw marks. Hopefully they did not think I had some wild cooties. I implored to the staff nurse that it was chiggers and not some bed bugs or other unsanitary ailment. They got it done anyway and I finally healed up. No more bushes without some DEET repellent. BTW the percent DEET has nothing to do with the repelling strength, but does the lasting effects or time of active usage. 5% is just as good as 100%, but just not for as long. The strong stuff is supposed to be sprayed on your clothes, hunting kit, not your skin, to last more than one day. A MD researched the topic and reported this to me. FWIW
