everything has gone crazy here with calls for floods
The fire last week burned all the underbrush on the side of the mountain and Flagstaff sort of curves around the mountain. So the people that supposedly know say the monsoon that should be starting today will bring severe floods. Just in one ravine area they say that we will get 3000 cubic feet of water every second coming off the hill. They are handing out sand bags all over town. Coming in this morning there were two huge flat bed trucks, the kind that hauls Caterpillars and other large land moving equipment, parked in the middle of the road just around the corner from the shop with sandbags stacked 8 feet high. Yesterday afternoon 4 large flatbed trucks delivered sandbags to this part of town. They ran out before Colleen could get over there to load up her truck. She went back this morning and grabbed 40 big 40 lb sandbags. Every store or office building on this side of town has sandbags stacked 3 feet high around the sides of the buildings. We have the 3 foot wall in front of the store and our #2 building. The #3 building is on higher ground so it shouldn't have any problems, but we have 8 or 10 sand bags there just in case.
A couple of years ago after a big fire up on the mountain all the underbrush was burned away and when the monsoon started the water came down the mountain and completely flooded a large subdivision with 3 and 4 feet of mud and water in the houses. One little girl was swept away. So it can get real bad real quick.
