45LC in 454 Casull

Gary, I had a 454 Casull built by you some time ago and have had carpal tunnel surgery since. Can I shoot 45LC in this gun without any issues?

and I do not play him on TV ... this is my personal opinion, not his.
But I shot thousands of 45 colts in my 454.
They will carbon up the chamber just like shooting 38 Specials do in a .357 or .44 Specials in a .44 Magnum. That carbon .. and any lead ... needs to be cleaned out before shooting any high pressure 454 loads.
It can be a bit of work to clean them .. but it's worth the trouble.
or you can just load colt-level loads in your 454 cases and save the hassle.

shooting session of 45 Long Colt take a good stiff brush and brush out the cylinder chambers good. That's all you need to do.

I had one of Bob Baker's sweet little bank vault jewel M83's in .454 and tried to shoot a particular lot of Starline .45 Colt Brass through it. For some reason the rims were 0.0001" too thick and rubbed the recoil shield. I about chewed my hat! Later I checked some others that did fine. It would have been a bad thing not to check them prior to flying half around the world! I did it once again with proud primers by about the same margin in.454 cases but that was my fault.
Your gun should do it all great.

That is good news. I was going to give it to my wide-eyed nephew, but now he will have to wait a while longer!!
