I finally found a Dan Wesson 357 Super mag in good condition for a decent price.... It was worth the wait... Anyone have this handgun?? What are you shooting??? What have you hunted??![[image]](images/uploaded/201908021928315d448edfe5082.jpg)
They all shoot good! I use 4227 and a 180/200 gr. cast

My favorite is the RCBS 200 gr. FPGC for the .35 cal. rifles. Lots of bullet out front to max. case capacity and I find 4227 gives about as good velocity as H110/296 with less trouble and fuss.
If a man can hold it, that should easily keep it all on a coffee saucer at 220 yds.
*My Max is a custom TC 8-3/4"

Doug gave me an old unwanted .357 Magnum Hot-Shot barrel with the choke and brake on it. I re-chambered it to .357 Maximum with the proper throating to shoot .38/.357 with accuracy too. I was using AA1680 and a 200 gr., a bit under 1700 fps in the ancient Contender, but it kicked a more than I wanted last outing. Needs a little more weight, maybe a scope and mounts...

I have had 4 357 Max. 2 contenders 1 10" and 1 14". Both burned up when house burned down in 1991. Also 2 Ruger Revolvers 1 10" and 1 7 1/2". The 10" has been converted to 445 SM. My best load in a revolver is 180gr. Swift, 19.0 gr. H-110, Starline cases, WW-spm primers.
thank you

Pick your bullet and as much h110 as you can safely use.

I had several guns in 357 max. A 16 inch rifle, a 10 inch Contender, a 10 inch Ruger max, and I cut the Ruger to 6 inches. With all bullets I tried, H110 was the most accurate for me.
I concur with Gus,

I have played with this round in many platforms. H-110 is the ticket. I have achieved 35 Remington velocities with 158 grain pills. You cannot out load safely to beat a hot (safe) load for a 35 Rem. Still an awesome pistol round. My favorite was a 158 grain Remington jacketed soft hollow point (which is no longer made) to over 18oo FPS in a G2 with a 10" barrel. It put the smack daddy on a hog and a couple of deer.
My two favorite bullets were any soft point 158 and..

.. Hornady 180 SSP in the rifle and Contender. Darn shame that 180 was discontinued. I still have some Hornady 180 FP silhouette bullets some where. I had no issues killing deer with any of those bullets.
